VARIOUS TYPES OF WATER FEATURES
1. Ponds
Garden Ponds: Naturalistic, often include plants, rocks, and fish (like koi or goldfish).
Reflecting Pools: Still water with a smooth surface for visual reflection; often formal and geometric.
Wildlife Ponds: Designed to attract birds, frogs, and insects, emphasizing ecological balance.
2. Fountains
Tiered Fountains: Classic, multi-level structures with cascading water.
Wall Fountains: Mounted on a vertical surface; ideal for small spaces.
Spouting Fountains: Use jets or nozzles to shoot water into the air—can be dramatic or playful.
Bubbling Rocks: Natural stones drilled to allow water to bubble out the top—low maintenance and zen-like.
3. Waterfalls
Stand-Alone Waterfalls: Feature rocks and water flowing over them, often connected to a recirculating pump.
Pondless Waterfalls: Water disappears into a hidden underground reservoir—great for safety and low upkeep.
Stream Waterfalls: Water flows through a sloped landscape, mimicking a natural brook or creek.
4. Streams and Brooks
Mimic natural watercourses with twists, turns, and varying speeds.
Often connected to ponds or waterfalls.
Can be dry creeks that flow only when it rains or with occasional water circulation.
5. Water Walls
Water runs down a vertical surface made of glass, stone, or metal.
Sleek and modern; great for ambient sound and visual appeal.
6. Birdbaths
Simple shallow basins on pedestals.
