VARIOUS TYPES OF WATER FEATURES

1. Ponds

  • Garden Ponds: Naturalistic, often include plants, rocks, and fish (like koi or goldfish).

  • Reflecting Pools: Still water with a smooth surface for visual reflection; often formal and geometric.

  • Wildlife Ponds: Designed to attract birds, frogs, and insects, emphasizing ecological balance.

2. Fountains

  • Tiered Fountains: Classic, multi-level structures with cascading water.

  • Wall Fountains: Mounted on a vertical surface; ideal for small spaces.

  • Spouting Fountains: Use jets or nozzles to shoot water into the air—can be dramatic or playful.

  • Bubbling Rocks: Natural stones drilled to allow water to bubble out the top—low maintenance and zen-like.

3. Waterfalls

  • Stand-Alone Waterfalls: Feature rocks and water flowing over them, often connected to a recirculating pump.

  • Pondless Waterfalls: Water disappears into a hidden underground reservoir—great for safety and low upkeep.

4. Streams and Brooks
